Project Description

THE EFFECTS OF POVERTY AND HEALTH

  • According to the World Bank, approximately over 380 million children around the world live in poverty. Every year, 3.1 million children die due to poor nutrition, which is estimated to be over 8000 children per day.
  • Million of children are chronically hungry and those children suffer from long-term malnourishment and nutrient deficiency.
  • Nutrition to a child means not only health but growth and development. Children who live in extreme poverty suffer tremendously with their growth and development.  They suffer from the greatest risk for a number of health issues.
  • Poverty and poor nutrition reduce a child’s life expectancy.  Children who are poor have higher rates of chronic health conditions and death rates.  They lack adequate basic medical care and do not have access to preventive care.
  • Our goal is to work with our strategic partners to address lifelong poor health conditions of children from poverty.  We hope to provide supportive interventions and find solutions for some of the challenging health and nutrition issues facing the world today.
